EXPLANATIONS
Prior to reading too far into the Scriptures on this site, you may want to read the following explanations of words and/or concepts. These notes are especially for the clip art/notes within the Bible portions which emphasize or question what was just read along with the quizzes at the end of each section. Some articles, however, may reference these issues in more detail.
Names
We use the Hebrew Names for our Heavenly Father and His Son throughout. One thing to be very certain of is the prefix of both (i.e., "Yah") as it can be seen in many, many names throughout the Scriptures (i.e., "JeremIAH," "IsaIAH," "HalleluYAH," etc.).
In the very beginning of many Bibles, there is a "Forward" where our Heavenly Father's Name is usually mentioned with an "explanation" why they have SUBSTITUTED the titles "LORD" and "GOD" for HIS NAME! That should astound anyone, because you would not want YOUR name to be substituted by a title, would you? We use an example of you are in a room full of doctors and there is an emergency call for "Dr. John." The announcement is made: "We have an emergency call for Doctor." Who will answer? None, or all. There are many, many pagan deities - our desire should be to worship our Heavenly Father, Yahweh, AND NO OTHER! (By the way, as you read, you will see that is His desire for us as well!) We know translators took out our Father's Name (i.e., the "Tetragrammaton"--"YHWH") over 6,000 times and replaced it with titles ("God" and "Lord"). Our Father said many times such things as "for my name's sake," "do this for my name," and "My people will know my name." There is a significant amount of information available on His Name and the pagan implications of the titles, but that is not the intent of this site. Just know that we use "Yahweh" for our Heavenly Father's Name.
Regarding His Son's (the Messiah's) Name, one thing we know for certain is that He never heard the name "Jesus" as a young boy growing up. It is a Latinized-Greek name and He was born of the tribe of Judah, having a Jewish name. In addition, He had the same name as Joshua of the original scriptures--you can see that quite easily by looking up Acts 7:45 and Hebrews 4:8 in a King James Version and compare with most any other version (which have been corrected) and you will see the difference. Here again, there are similar pronunciations. The only other one I will comment on is "Yeshua." A young lady once told me that "Yeshua" means salvation and that is why she uses that for our Messiah. I commented back, "Then you took the Father out of His Name?"
"Yahshua" literally means "Yahweh's Salvation" or "Salvation of Yahweh" and that is the form used here. Again, you can find much information on the Son's name including the possible pagan origins of Iesous ("Jesus") but that is not the intent of this website.
Torah
The word "Torah" actually means "instruction" though is commonly translated "law." It references the first five books of the original scriptures (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy). Nowhere are we told any of our Father's instructions were done away with, despite that being a teaching within nominal christianity. Let me just ask a question: If sin is defined in scripture (1 John 3:4) as "lawlessness" (i.e., "without law") and people teach the "law" was done away with, does that mean sin no longer exists? Ridiculous, of course. Yahshua never did away with anything having to do with our Father's instructions. In fact, in Matthew 22:40, He says, "On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets." This topic will be discussed on this site since your salvation depends upon it. However, this is mentioned here merely to let the reader know that in areas where there are quizzes or notes, you will see there is reference to the instructions still being valid today.
